Springfield Rolls Royce Phantom 1 tubular bumpers
These bumpers came from chassis number S162PM, the ex - Hal Blaine Phantom 1 Playboy roadster. The car was originally built in 1927 as an Arundel limousine then rebodied by Brewster as a Playboy roadster in 1933. Later in the 30's, possibly when owned by Western actor Tom Mix, the car was customised by Bohmann & Schwartz in Los Angeles with modified wings and headlights. It went on to be featured in several Warner Bros. movies including Giant with James Dean.
Bohmann & Schwartz's modifications included altering the bumper fittings so that they hung on a flat bracket instead of bolting to a tubular mount. The fittings still bear the original i.d. stampings from B&S. When we restored the car to its Brewster specification we preferred it without the bumpers. Overall in very good condition - some very light pitting and a few light scratches.
