Simply the mosty original & untouched Bugatti we have ever had the pleasure of selling. This Glorious Type 44 was delivered new to Palermo in 1929 & unbelievably comes with its original Italian paperwork dated 24th April 1929 & then following on into the 1930's & '40's.

Coachwork is a fabric covered open tourer by Ghia of Torino. The Rexine body covering is original with amazing patina & age releted cracks to it, yet remains intact as do the worn carpets, patinated leather seats & door cards. The car comes with its original hood frame which supports the little used hood & side screens. The car emerged from its Palermo hiding place a few years back & has been the subject of several magazine articles since. A parts catalogue & instruction manaul also come with the car.

Under the bonnet the lusty straight eight engine is well detailed within its engine bay. The only deviation from factory standard is the fittment of a more modern carburettor but the original Schebler unit also comes with the car.

This car is simply a jewel & will win prizes in the preservation class at any concours. We have gone to great trouble to extensively photograph the car so please take time to go though the pictures and peruse the superb details.

Driving the car is like stepping back in time. The 3 litre straight eight engine starts readily & pulls strongly through the gears. Gears are easily mastered & the car is light on the steering & pleasant to drive. Every detail is period correct from the dash board instruments to the rear lights & even the little blanking tongues that cover the side screen orifices along with the supplying agents plaque on the dash, Rossi & Tagliabue to wit.

Viewings are near Milan by prior appointment. You are unlikely to ever find another type 44 or other Bugatti in such untouched original condition anywhere in the world. I feel that the car is more a piece of art then a mode of transport although it does that with aplomb.
