A different ride.

You may have seen the Spacke (later make Brooke-Spacke) offered for sale on these pages. We asked the owner what it is to operate this early US-made cyclecar. Mike's answer came in prompt (maybe you better get a little closer (clic) :
"To start the car the advance retard has to be set exactly right or it will kick back. The hand throttle set to full open plus full choke. Check car is in neutral (left pedal set to centre position on ratchet). Switch on ignition, turn on petrol and oil taps, turn handle and hey presto!
Advance ignition when running and back off choke when slightly warm. To select first press left pedal, the harder you press the more the gear grips, to select 2nd release left hand pedal as far back as possible. The brake is a bit weak and the best brake is to press the reverse pedal! It is certainly different to drive and for best results choose a clear area like an empty car park!
