A Green Coppa

Usually spring in Italy is a wonderful time with lots of sunshine and agreeable temperatures. However, last year’s Coppa Milano-Sanremo was plagued by rain and snow. The outlook for this year’s event, starting on March 13, will be a lot better, though. This is good, as there’s nothing nicer than a fast drive along the Mediterranean coast. But even if it does rain, this year’s Coppa will be a Green Event. “Cars that don’t pollute” seems a contradiction in terms, and it is. That’s why MAC Events, the organizers of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo, have promised to reforest 50.000 square meters in Costa Rica, which is the “green” equivalent of carbon dioxide emissions during the event, calculated to be 268,816 kilograms.
