One of the most entertaining events organized by the VSCC must surely be the Lakeland Trial. Set against the impressive mountains of the Lake District, participants come from all over Great-Britain (and even Ireland!) in order to get a healthy mud treat, whilst trying to run their vintage sports car uphill as quickly as possible. As could be expected this time of the year, the weather was not too well with showers, hail, wet snow, but also a few seconds with lighter skies. The shown Meadows engined Frazer Nash GN Special of the Leedal family is just an example of the kind of fun the competitors are looking for. Not only the trials, also some entertaining roadside fettling (dislocated chain) is always good fun. All kinds of budgets do participate, ranging from Austin 7 Ulster Replica up to 1923 Bugatti Brescia and anything in between. And yes, speed traps are not only to be expected around London!
UPDATE by David Cochrane who corrected us about the nature of the event:"...the aim is to get as far up the hill (section) as possible, not as quickly as possible."
