Chater-Lea was a London-based motor cycle manufacturer who in 1907 produced a cyclecar with a two cylinder air-cooled engine. Adrian Ward is currently rebuilding one in the style of a Brooklands racer. All the parts are in a copy of the original Chater-Lea catalogue, although it does not seem like a Chater-Lea factory built car, because it also has four-wheel brakes. A side valve JAP-engine was fitted, however this was removed in the late seventies and a Blackburne aircraft engine was fitted. Can anyone shed some more light on this cyclecar? Contact us (RB)
