What was on the mind of the Munich engineers in the early twenties when they decided to build a neat little racer, based on their succesfull Austin 7 based Dixi. Starting to produce Dixi's first off all had a lot to do with their aviation backgound and their marketing 'Fingerspitzen Gefühl'. It made them choose for a proven cheap, simple, light and reliable platform + powerunit. Racing that concept is just the logical next step to proove you are right. The amazing thing is that 75 years later the simple concept still attracts new enthusiasts (both Austin and BMW). People just know that A 7 parts are simple and cheap to get and that adding a few kilos 'superleggera' coachwork will add tons of fun as well. Here we see true A 7 believer Gerrit Jansen from Holland seated in the earliest outlines of his all alloy Dixi racer (Autogallery.org). We'll come back to you with a thorough roadtest... when she is ready to race. Which probably will be a week or two from now ... ;-) (photo www.CarrosseriebouwJansen.nl)
