Antebellum in Romania

Contrary to the USA where the term Antebellum means the period before the Civil War, in Europe it is generally used to describe the period before any war. So Antebellum is an apt name for the Retromobil Club of Romania for an exhibition of pre-war cars. The meeting was held at the end of September and it was a rare occasion to see together fifteen of the oldest cars from Romania. Bogdan Coconoiu, who is vice-president of the R.C.R. mailed us several photo’s of the event. We especially liked this 1937 Wanderer W 52 between a 1939 Skoda 1100 and Fiat 1100. Also not often seen is this 1936 Hanomag Rekord . Bogdan is working hard to restore his 1937 Aero 30 Roadster. The project is well under way, but will it be ready for next year’s event? (RB)
