Bargains Galore! (UPDATE: Peugeot chassis and engine)

It seems impossible, but the Beaulieu Autojumble, held last weekend, was even better than previous ones. The weather held up pretty well (in fact it was so hot that on the Sunday the catering was sold out of cider) and we’ve met many “contacts”. But the all important factor is of course the parts and motor cars and there were plenty of them. We’ve tried to visit some 2200 plus stalls on several fields, including a new extension of the Red field. There was something for everyone: parts for your Mors or De Dion Bouton, a whole array of lamps, all kinds of toys and fuel related memorabilia. We wondered about this chassis with Peugeot engine. Did it find a new buyer? The automarkt featured the complete cars, fully restored ones or “some work needed”, like this 1946 Wolseley. On the Saturday Bonhams held their sale of vintage motor cars. One car we particularly liked was this Austrian made Steyr Type 55 that at the end of the day sold for 5520 pounds. The dates for next year’s Autojumble will be September 13 and 14. Make a note in your diary! (RB)

Update by John Hearne about the chassis with the Peugeot engine: “In my opinion it's all Peugeot. It looks to me like the Bebe model. Note the chassis rails that go from channel section to tubular on the front dumb irons. Having owned a Brescia Bugatti the other give away is the virtually identical 'bunch of bananas' exhaust manifold on the chassis.”
