It has become a custom that the Friday after Thanksgiving US citizens hit the stores to start their Christmas shopping. And just as traditionally it is also the day that shops are starting to see black figures in their books instead of red ones (hence the name “black” Friday). During last year’s Black Friday Weekend 147 million American shoppers each spent an average of 347 dollars, according to the National Retail Federation. Due to the current economic crisis no one can predict what will happen these day. It’s quite possible that many shoppers will wait until Monday when numerous on-line stores come up with special discounts. Cyber Monday might be worth waiting for. Don’t want to wait that long? Then have a look at l’art et l’automobile. Their Christmas Auction has already started and they just might have that special Christmas present for you. We wouldn’t mind this painting of the 1912 French GP by well-known artist Peter Hearsey finding in our Christmas stocking!
