Brooklands blues

In view of the last Brooklands heroes that we recalled a few days ago, we look with more then average sentiments at recent shots from the famous 1907 British circuit. Brooklands still plays its part in motorsport, be it a modest one. The transport museum and grounds is the venue for the VSCC New Year driving test, which this year attracted over sixty competitors. Cars from the 1902 Dennis rear entrance tonneau to post-war Frazer Nashes and Rileys tackled the courses – testing their car handling skills and memory in a bid to obtain the quickest times. Many competitors forget the course resulting in a non-test proving that speed isn’t everything in these events. The quickest memory men were David Marsh in his 1925 Bugatti Brescia and William Way in his Austin Seven Ulster.
