Our recent article about the Auburn at the WWG auction prompted Roger Bowers to come up with this photo of an Auburn ambulance. “This beauty is parked at the Hollywood Receiving Hospital, right next to the Police station. This was about ten blocks from where I grew up, and I spent a fair amount of time in both places, as did most of my friends, when we were young juvenile delinquents. Apparently, Los Angeles had a fleet of them (Auburns, not delinquents). And up until the 1960s most Los Angeles Police stations had a Receiving Hospital attached.” (text and photo Roger Bowers)
