“A grand day out” or just “Great”. No matter what you call it, the Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance held last Sunday was both: a grand location with great weather, great people and great cars. Early arrivers saw a sea of trailers, unloading car upon car. As typical at such events, they were grouped in circles or lined up in rows depending on the number of cars in a class. There was a wonderful representation of both American and European makes. Too many to mention, though all well worth seeing. Within this mix of marvellous metal was this outstanding 1935 Duesenberg J Roadster with body by Bonham & Schwartz body, originally owned by Clark Gable. One of the most unusual cars attending was the 1932 Helicron, a propeller driven car that was thought to be the future. Apparently it did not catch on, perhaps to the benefit of pedestrians and birds alike. (text Tom Edfors; photos Tom Edfors and JP Van De Bundt)
