Weekend is over(3). Showing here is a postcard ad of a The Hague taxi company. They were proud not only to advertise their services but also the (quite expensive) make of car - Spyker - which they employed. The Dutch Spyker cars were popular with the Royal Dutch family, but not one of those car survived (correct us if we are wrong). Most Spykers were sold to England where the car was seen as more or less equal to Rolls Royce. The British market was also the reason "Spijker" changed into "Spyker". The most famous Spyker is without any doubt the 1906 8,8 liter 6 cylinder (Brooklands.org) four wheel drive racer, which is now in the collection of London-to-Brighton VIP Evert Louwman. (postcard from collection Robert Rozeman)
