Early Packard regains forties charms. (UPDATE II: more NZ Twin Six racing)

This old photo is a recent find, taken inside the Earl C. Anthony showroom in San Francisco in the 1940's and shows a Model 18 Packard that exists today (editor: just like the 'landmark' showroom itself ! (click)). The owner of the car, with a head's up, bought the photo and is delighted to have a 60+ year old snapshot of his car! This thanks to a heads up from John Grundy and Tim Martin who are 'roster keepers' of the Packard Club in the US. They are responsible to keep record of the surviving Packards of a certain type. In their case the Twin Sixes (1916-23). Tim writes: "...the roster job provides a nearly constant supply of "old" photos of Packards and it is always great fun to try and match them up with known, existing cars." Tim and John John would love to hear from any prewarcar.com followers who have photos or information to add to the growing database of Twin Sixes. Do you have old (Twin Six) Packard photos? Please let us know.
UPDATE II by Mark Dawber:"the 1918 3-35 Packard Twin Six, that Tom Cloudsley owns was built from the remains of the car that Selwyn Craig used to win the New Zealand Motor Cup in 1922. I wrote an article about it for Beaded Wheels magazine last year. I drove it, briefly, and found it quite a challenge, because the engine is so smooth it is difficult to judge the engine speed for gear changes. It is the only known surviving example of this series to have wire wheels."
UPDATE by 1.Don Risen (California):"I have a number of pictures of old Packard twin six models."
2.John Hearne:"There was a Packard Twin Six which raced on Muriwai Beach near Auckland, New Zealand in the early 1920's. The owner/driver was Selwyn Graig. Twin Six owners in New Zealand include. Tom Cloudsley, Mike Evans, Mike Rose and Hans Compter."
