Michael Ware reports: "The go-ahead Llangollen Motor Museum has added a 1935 Standard 16 Jubilee model to its display. Only 500 of this model were produced and we are told that the Standard Owners Club thinks this is the only one in road worthy condition in the United Kingdom. The Museum would like to hear of any others anywhere in the world. (please write to [email protected])
The Museum’s car was originally sold new by agent Tom Norton in Swansea. He later took it back in part exchange and kept it until the 1970’s. Gwilym Owen of the Llangollen Motor Museum is only the third owner after Tom Norton. The chassis and engine of this model were also the basis for Bill Lyon's SS 90 (Jag-lovers.org). It is thought that many Standards were cannibalised to keep the SS 90 running or even used as donor parts for more modern reproductions." (photo courtesy motormuseums.com )
