First hardtop ?

Mathieu Gras sent us this great postcard showing a ~1923 Salmson VAL3 cyclecar. Featuring a hardtop. You can click the photo for a second shot of the same car at another location. Now I am sure you are going to send us examples of even earlier detachable hardtops... ;-) We will look forward to learn about those! Mathieu also wrote that in the postcards by photographer M. Mollaret from Grenoble this Salmson is returning many times. Yet there is no evidence that he actually owned the Salmson. When you want to see cars like these in surroundings like these we can only advice you to visit Critérium for Cyclecars that is organised by the French Amilcar Club and that will be held from next weekend.
