Fitting together some Bugatti jigsaw pieces.

You may have seen this Bugatti before as Bas de Voogd wrote about it some time ago (click). At that time it was unknown which Bugatti this was, but quite surprisingly this car has been identified, due to a recently published book by Jacqueline Quarles van Ufford about the war years and the disappearing of her granddad, Baron S. van Voerst van Lynden (hardenberg.nl in Dutch only). The book contained a picture of Samuel van Voerst van Lynden (right) and Hendrik Wildschut, the chauffeur, posing next to Sam's Bugatti type 40 prior to the start of the 1930 Rally Monte Carlo.
