These are the last two lines of The Brook, a poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. It is thought that these lines inspired Philip T. Somerville-Large to build this unique Silver Stream. It was his dream to have his own luxury car – something to rival the Rolls Royce – and one that eventually could be put into mass production. The Silver Stream dates from 1909 and has an 18/24hp 3.1 litre six-cylinder Gnome engine. The Roi-de-Belges open tourer coachwork was constructed by Salmons of Newport Pagnell. This amazing One-Only automobile is to be sold by Bonhams on April 30, 2007 at the RAF Museum in Hendon. A car like this will not come cheap, but this is definitely not a “cheap” car.
