Frozen in Time

Good news for the many automotive stamp collectors amongst us. The Italian Post Office has issued a new stamp commemorating the Mille Miglia. The stamp shows drivers Augusto Carnato and Guglielmo Carraroli of the Scuderia Ferrari. The image dates back to 1931 and depicts the moment they entered the Futa Pass during the Fifth Coppa Mille Miglia. The first day of issue is May 14 when the stamp will go on sale at post offices throughout Italy and from the Post Office website. As a special celebration, the Philatelic Division of the Italian Post Office will offer a special cancellation mark in the cities of Brescia, Ferrara and Rome during the three stops of the upcoming Mille Miglia that will start tomorrow, May 13.
