One not so well known Italian makes is OM, or Officine Meccaniche (click pic to Enlarge radiator badge). The name has not the musical sound of Alfa Roméééo or Maseráááti but they did perform very well at various occasions. An OM 665 finished 4 at the 1930 Targa Florio. Finished second at the Mille Miglia of 1929. Finished second again at the Mille Miglia of 1928. And yes, the further you go back, the better they did. 1927 was the best OM year ever, with 1, 2 and 3 places in the Mille Miglia. In later years OM could cope no longer with the massively attacking Alfa's. In the end OM was swallowed by truck manufacturer Iveco.
