Grounded without Ford.

Paul 'wet clutch' Linster reports: "Old Warden" Shuttleworth flying days were a dream. We were indeed very lucky. The conditions in Old Warden were such -no wind ,cloudless blue sky- that ALL the planes could start; since years it was the first take off of the 1910 Deperdussin (clic) which actually flew 4 times a target of about half a mile the Bleriot did a leap but with the original engine had all 3 wheels lifted off for 1 meter high and perhaps over a 80 meters distance, but she did! Wonderful flights of the 1910 Bristol Boxkite and the 1911 Avro triplane, replicas for the "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" movie, plus a stunning performance of the 1912 Blackburn monoplane Type 'D' in the air for minutes. All in a cloudless blue sky. The car is a (special) Ford T, built to start some of the props of the planes." (photos by Bob Linster)
