If only…? (update: not an SS1!)

The early sixties in Holland. A seemingly deserted car along a riverbank in Amsterdam (click photo for enlargement). Deserted? No, not really, but this SS1 does seem right on its way to the scrapheap. Only a canvas tarpaulin shields it from the elements, the wings are dented and rusted, the headlamps illuminate everything except the road and the fog light has quit altogether. We wonder if the engine is a runner. But still… maybe someone felt sorry for this rusty forefather of the Jaguar and rescued it. If only…? We can dream, can we? Update I: Rod Amos tells us that the forlorn SS is an SS2 (not 1) and probably rarer, as their survival rate is smaller than their larger brethren.
Update II: Kit Foster hopes that the Packard behind the SS2 has also survived. There's probably no way of telling but we do know that a better picture of this Packard still exists. We'll try and find it.
