Yesterday a V-twin. Today a vertical twin. When first confronted with the name, you may think it is a typo, especially at these pages ;-) But believe us, it is not. The explanation is simple: this short living make (1906-1908) was not produced in Torino like FiaT but in Legnano, thus resulting in FiaL. The car is mainly remembered due to its circular radiator which was en vogue in that time (Spyker, Eijsink, etc.). One thing is sure there are more models made of the FIAL than real cars. One by special appointment of the Museo dell'Automobili Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia, Torino (clic)(GasolineAlleyAntiques.com). An even humbler model version was packed as a kit in a chocolat egg by Kinder (clic) (sergeriri.free.fr). According to Italian collector Allesandro Caponi only twelve FIAL cars were made of which two usable examples survived. Showing here is #3, Mr. Caponi's project for which he is seeking help through these pages. Now luckily he has most of the chassis, engine and coachwork, but as he reports still is missing 'many, many parts'. Front and back axle for starters... So when you don't know what to do with these funny FIAL marked parts in your shed please contact Mr Caponi or [email protected].
