Update: Fons Alkemade answered to our question that the only trace he knows is an advertisement for the M.-M. company showing this sportscar + a luxury Cabriolet. Both claimed a topspeed of 120 km/h. After 1928 the company specialised in 'mécanique generale'.
EARLIER: Mathieu Gras (France) sends these photos of a forgotten French sportscar. Mathieu writes: "The depicted Morano-Margueritte was Alain Duquesne's grand-father's car. The firm 'Morano' was created in 1922 in Courbevoie (F).
Morano was the end of the name of the Financial Director "Zamorano de Biedma"
At first the cars were equiped with a bicylinder of 995cm3 "Train".
After, there were three different model: B02, B05 and B07. These model all have a Chapuis Dornier 1098 cm3. Some cars participated at "Bol d'Or" from 1925 to 1928. The sport models were equiped with a Chapuis Dornier with 3 valves per cylinder and the speed was nearby 140km/h ! In 1927 the firm changed his name to "Morano-Margueritte" The firm closed in 1928 . It is believed that one Morano-Margueritte is still around, but where? With the help of a French website about registration plates (clic) (homepage of Jean-Emmanuel Chevry) we could find, it was registred in "Pas de Calais" (north of France) between 01/04/1934 and 31/08/1935 (surely nearby the end of the year 1934). It is not the first registration." Thank you, Mathieu! When you can add to the history of this make, please write to [email protected]. (photos courtesy Alain Duquesne)
