A question & photo from Michael Wirthgen from Germany: 'This is a BMW 319/1 Special from 1936. The car number 56 234 was delivered to Köln in it’s original body to the owner of the liquor destilery “Pelzer”. Around 1946, Mr. François Burg from Cannes bought this car from an unknown French enthusiast with a similar body like the one you see. At that time, the car was prepared for “Le Mans”, but didn’t start for unknown reasons(the 1936 Le Mans was cancelled; editor). I would like to find out it’s way from Köln to the South of France, where it ended up, probably due to WWII. Perhaps someone has old photos of the car, which even shows the body before. In 1946 François Burg built up this complete new body. Later on, the car came back to Germany.' We will forward your comments to Michael Wirthgen.
