Lagonda and/or Rapier ?

(report from James Holland, UK) The Eccles Rapier was built in 1935 to the order of Roy Eccles for racing at Brooklands. It was also known as The Eccles Special. The Brooklands Automobile Racing Club wrote to Lagonda to check that it was permissable for Eccles to enter the car as such. This is strange as the car wears a Rapier badge rather than a Lagonda badge so presumably was built by The Rapier Car Company and not Lagonda(Lagonda having gone into receivership earlier in 1935 and sold the rights to the name Rapier to the designer Tim Ashcroft who set up The Rapier Car Company.
