We see here a 1938 Lancia Astura Coupé by Carrosserie Pourtout with a 2.973 cc V8 engine.
The Astura was the most luxurious model of the Italian carmaker Lancia from 1931 till 1939. This 4th series Lancia Astura came out of the factory on the 5th of July 1938. The car was bought new by Marquis De Montaigu of Paris and delivered to Carrosserie Pourtout in March 1939, where they made this stunning, one-off coupé body.
Then there is a blank page…
In 1965, the Astura was discovered by Dr. Pierre Haverland in the garage of Mr. Henri Chantraine of Bressoux, near Liège, Belgium. Dr. Haverland sold the car to the famous French collector Mr. Serge Pozzoli. After this, the Lancia came in the possession of collector Mr. Jean Serre and then was resold to Mr. Silvano Cima of Italy in 1990. Mr. Cima had the car restored by KCA of Milano. He drove several rallies and participated in the Concours of Bagatelle and Villa d’Este.
The current owner of the car is searching for more information on the early history of this impressive Lancia. Is there anyone who can help fill in the blank page? Any information and/or old photographs of the car would be highly appreciated. You can get in contact with the owner directly by sending an e-mail to [email protected].
This beautiful Lancia Astura Pourtout with mysterious history will be on display at the PreWarCar.com & PostWarClassic.com stand at Salon Rétromobile. From the 5th until the 9th of February, you will find us in Hall 1 - spot D 084 in Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles.
Maybe we can solve this mystery in Paris. We hope to see you all at Salon Rétromobile.
