Werner Tikken of Belgium found this mascot and wonders about the origin. We consulted John Forde of Mascot-Mania. He answers:"The ornament you have is know as E'lan, there are copies, however the originals date from around the 1920s, usually marked AEL. AEL stands for Augustine & Emile Lejeune. They set up a business in London after moving from France in 1904. All their ornaments after 1920 are marked AEL. The company is still in business today (see: LouisLejeune.com). However the markings on their ornaments are now different." So Werner, the diving girl you found is an accesory mascot that could have been fitted to anything on wheels. See the famous 'femme fatale' who was very proud with her Leaping Lejeune fitted to the Royal Escort.
