Living billboard? (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Rutger Booy wrote: 'This scene reminds me of 'The Grapes of Wrath' by John Steinbeck. It's about poor farmers during the Great Depression who migrated from the Mid-West to California and didn't find there what they hoped for and went further. Some North-bound (Oregon), some South-bound (Mexico). The book is about a family in their 1925(?) Dodge driving down Route 66. Of special interest to us car lovers are the chapters 7 & 16. about the 'Used car lot' and where they change main-bearings of their car on the roadside(!).

EARLIER TEXT: The two man hold up a sign 'JUAREZ MEXICO' and in another photo of the same scenery '60 MILES TO JIMMY O'BRIEN'S'. Jimmy's Diner? Cafe? Garage? What do they need from Juarez ? (theoldentimes.com). Their well used Ford is full with vintage grafity. The roof line says: 'Howdy. Cadillacs may come by - we should worry.' An additional sign is mentioning the names of the occupants: Clyde Keeling, Frank Bybee, Jack McKinney and W.B.I. Kendrick. Looking for a job? Hitch-hiking? Who can tell? Then - almost unreadable- the hood reads Loraine, Colorado, El Paso, Big Springs... Students doing their own Pan American is our preliminary conclusion. We love to hear your comments. (photo collection editor)
