As your editor has been an advertising man the best part of his working life, he has a weak spot for short copy with strong selling points. The Alvis Special pictured here, was entered with a few short very effective lines. Don't think that short copy is easy. Winston Churchill once added when writing to a friend: "...sorry had no time to write a short letter". The Alvis advert has a last line which ends in in the two word sentence above (check Alvis page). Insiders of course understand the meaning. Doing one lap (with flying start) around the circuit of Mallory Park in less than one minute. VSCC members will try to do the same (or better) this Sunday - 24 July - when the Vintage Sports Car Club runs at Mallory Park Race Meeting.
