Monday, Monday... (UPDATE I & II ; see Read More))

Mammas & Pappas plus chauffeur on their way and... yes, a flat tyre plus more. On closer inspection of this 1906 postcard you'll find that the car probably is an early taxi nr. 11 on its side - (the round blackbox mounted on the left side of the drivers bench looks like a taximeter). Let's hope that he put the thing off during this fettling stop and note the steel rod hanging down from the middle of the car. One relief for you, with a click of your mouse on the photo all problems are gone and you can resume the journey. In return for this little favour tell us what make of car they have. Please send your comments to [email protected]. A model history of London taxi's is to be found at www.London-Taxi.co.uk. >>>>> UPDATE by Thomas Billicsich:'"....this stick in the middle of the taxi is a socalled "Bergstütze" (=spragbrake or sprag ; thanks Kit!). Used to prevent the car from rolling back at an uphill start or stop. Was lifted with a piece of wire when not in use.") <<<<< (postcard collection Hans Horwitz)
