A fabulous series of vintage photos came in from Olivier Chabane, an active member of the French Model T Club. We think this shot was made not too long after WWI, when the hobby of the rich came within the reach of every man. Not only because of Citroen and Peugeot. Even Tin Lizzy started to learn French... Click the photo to better study what a marvellous photo this is. The radiator bear is a treasure in itself, but there is so much to see, so much detail and emotions. We leave you to all that and just hope to hear from you how exact we can date the T... write us.
UPDATE III by Claes Rocklin: It is a pure 1920 without starter. The small steering wheel indicates that it is a 1920 or earlier. But if it had been a 1919 the spring perches would probably have been different as the wishbone was located above the front axle. Have a look at the front engine mount. 1920 was the last year for the engine mount with 2 U clamps. Following year a cheaper Y shaped engine mount appeared.
UPDATE II by Kim Koffman and Jinn Marie Davis: The clear head light lens are pre-1921, at least in the USA. Patterned lens were then used to reduce glare and give a wider field of illumination. Model Ts were not produced by calendar years. Model T production ran according to Henry Ford's fiscal years - beginning August 01 and ending 31 July. Adding to the year identification confusion was the use of parts from earlier models. "
Jinn adds:it is a '19 to '20 with a low cowl and low radiator, radius rod mounts below the front axle, has a spring mounted radiator and a two piece crank handle, and all this is subject to parts on hand the day the car was built by Ford and or the number of times it was sold and repaired.
UPDATE by Hugh Nutting: I would think this photo was closer to WWII. The paint is very faded and it has the high radiator used from 1922 1/2 to 1925 with this body style.
