(thanks to Fons Alkemade and Kit Foster who corrected a Monday morning Editor's blunder mixing up a Spyker and Model T bus.....).
EARLIER: A 1926 photo showing a Model T bus in Amsterdam. The small bus was in service for M. van Poelgeest in Amstelveen, a suburb of Amsterdam to bring personel to the Spyker factory. Poelgeest is a wellknown name in Amstelveen up to this day. Be it now as a dealer for new BMW's and Mini's. The Amstelveen tarmac has a lot of embedded Spyker history as the factory buildings were less then three miles form our offices. The earliest Spyker - the 1900 car - was photographed with Jacobus Spijker and his daughter when leaving the estate 'Trompenburg' along the Amstel less then two miles from here. Less then 1 % of all 1500 produced Spyker cars have survived, most of which are in the Dutch Louwman Collection that will move to The Hague shortly but better could have chosen for Amsterdam near the original Spyker grounds... More historical views on Amstelveen (thanks to Amstelveenweb.com who provided the photos)
