On the way from Villa Erba to Villa d'Este.

We always look out for The Different Photo. In a surrounding of sheer perfection like last week's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este you will rarely ever see something which reminds you of the 'ordinary' veteran car life. Only devine cars. No leaks, no smoke, no scratches, no cumbersome sounds. Gladly one spectator witnessed this event which is an everyday experience in the world of mortal motorists, but rarely ever seen on Concourses. A car at a rope! A Merc pulling a Bugger. That is to say... a 1930 Mercedes-Benz 710 SS with tourer coachwork by Thrupp & Maberley (owner Frans van Haaren) towing a 1939 Bugatti T 57 with Aravis cabriolet coachwork by Gangloff (owner Peter Mullin). This is how the winner of this year's 'Trofeo BMW Italia' looked like from the rearview mirror of the towtruck...er ...towing Merc check. Photos courtesy Italparts.com.
