Paintjob for the Duke of Hamilton.

This 1923 sleeve valve Daimler Limousine was new to the Duke of Hamilton. 79 years later the car needs some paint but little else. What these early Daimlers had in common with Minerva and Voisin, amongst others, were their Knight sleeve valve engines, that took away lots of noise but also brought in (i.e blew out) lots of smoke combined with a long life(even more smoke :-). We would welcome any reports on smokeless sleeve valve cars. Click the photo for a cross section of the Knight 'sleever' and more on Daimler history at www.Daimler.co.uk . (photo by John Barringer)
