Pre 1900 Black likes to be on the road again.

Of the motorcars built by Mr. Black in his Indianapolis blacksmith shop only two are known to have survived. One is to be found in the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum. The second motorcar - probably made in the period 1893-1897 - used to be in the possession of a Mr. Jerry Jones of Indianapolis (the main photo of it is when Jones bought it in unrestored condition, the other in its current, restored condition.) This two-tone Black motorcar is now in the hands of George Albright who likes to bring it back on the road, preferably on the road between London and Brighton. For that he needs two things: a solid dating of his car and an .... engine. To be more precise a Benz Velo one cylinder engine. Now the former owner - Jerry Jones - once put the cars side by side and found they are 'exactly the same'. So there is a possibility which needs to be studied that both cars were made almost at the same time. We pasted up a rough side-by-side of the Museum car and the Jones car for you to evaluate, check: >>> Black & Black back to back. Please let us know if you have more info, write to PreWarCar or call directly with Mr. George Albright: (+1)352 843 1624
