Presto !

by Rutger Booij

The photo of the family in the motorcar was given to me by the little boy next to the driver of the automobile. That little boy is now 86 years old but still remembers very well the sensation he felt when his aunt invited him for a drive in her Presto. He also remembers that his uncle had the speed of this car set to a maximum of 45 kilometres (30 miles) per hour out of fear his aunt would drive too fast.
Presto was a factory in Chemnitz, Germany that produced motorcycles and bicycles. Presto(Autogallery.org.ru) produced motorcars from 1907 untill 1927. The company was then taken over by NAG, who went on making luxury cars till 1934. After that year they produced only trucks together with Büssing, which company became MAN later on. (find more photos of Presto and NAG at Solitude-memorial.de, a great site about the Stuttgart circuit that had it's first race 100 years in 1903. (photo by anonumous photographer, see next page)
