... putting the world on wheels.

Today - 12 June 2003 - the official celebration of Ford's Centennial will start in Dearborn, Michigan, USA (netstate.com). Not only for everybody who is in love with the make of car Ford this is a very special day. For everybody who has just a little bit of petrol in his veins this must be a very special occasion. Because Ford did what Benz overlooked. Ford did what Bugatti couldn't. Ford did what Rolls-Royce will never understand. Ford did lift his hat for every Alfa-Romeo. Ford did what Austin copied just a little bit later. Ford did what Volkswagen copied much later. Ford did what Toyota copied even more much later. Henri Ford changed the rich man's toy into an everyman's commodity and gave mankind the freedom to travel anywhere at moderate cost. Congratulations to Henry I. Congratulations to the working man and woman at Ford. Congratulations to the Ford Motor Company. Congratulations to the motor industry. Congratulations to everybody on this planet -poor & rich- who loves to drive a car. (photo 1912 Model T from collection Bob Swanson / click to enlarge)
