It is not so very long ago that we learned that the majority of the type 35 and 37 Bugatti's in fact came as road going cars from the factory. But to see one in reality is quite another thing, now that most of these cars have gone through the "GrandPrix Carwash" ripping of their wings and spoke wheels in order to get a better price (?). This photo was taken during the Dutch Amilcar-Salmson meeting of 1988 (check the participants of that year) . One of them was Dudley Gahagan (at the wheel of his T 37), who for a long time not only was boss of the long established Rees Brothers, but a crack in decades of VSCC events. He was also known for racing probably the fastest Amilcar 6C ever to touch tarmac.... Unfortunately you will not meet Dudley as he left for the great rally to another world in 1997. This year May 7,8 & 9 there will be another international Amilcar-Salmson meet in Holland. When you check into the invitational website of the 37th Amilcar-Salmson Rally you can see they take a wide variety of cars as long it is sporty, light and vintage. (photo Jos Cox)
