R.I.P. Rudy Pas is afgelopen vrijdag overleden

I may not be the best one to write these words but I feel I should do. I started our company (I.R.E.S.A.) in Spain in 1970 and always felt a great respect for him because of the cars he was able to source. We only spoke on the telephone, but I consider that he was one of the very few to start the classic car business on the continent. From up above, he is probably spotting interesting cars and smiling, seeing we still remember him.

May he rest in peace.

The Hank Williams song “Born to Boogie”, sums up Rudy.
He knew more places to raise hell and more friends to do it with, then movie stars or playboys.
I’d never spent a dull moment with him.
A man’s man and great car guy.

Rudy was an important and fascinating man, not only in the pre-war car business. He also had the right feel for special post-war cars and generated a strong market for the Alfa Romeo 1600 TZ, for example. He was also one of the first to realise the importance of the so-called 'Etceterini' class of cars. He was the first to put a bold price tag on an early OSCA, Ermini, Siata, Ottovu and the like. He actually made that trade. Right after that, he picked up more valuable machines and sold cars like a Ferrari 250 MM, my personal Ferrari 250 Monza and 250 Vignale Mille Miglia and many more. One of his greatest qualities was his irresistible sense of humour. I could easily spend hours with Rudy. It was one long laugh, punctuated by interesting car talk of the right kind. I had known him since 1978 after he sold his 'soft ware house' and made the classic car trade more interesting and sometimes even turbulent.
Rudy , rest in peace and we will not forget you!

To behonest I knew his name but onfortunately we never met...
But for someone who had such great passion for prewar cars I salute sincerly.
Let there be for him lots of Castrol R oil, grease and fuel in the heaven.
