This amazing photo came in from car historian Nikolai Alexandrov. It was found in the archive of the old Russian racing driver Boris Grekov (from the Zil factory). The photo was made in the city of Charkow and is showing a record attempt by the Russian car Avangard-3.
Nik Alexandrov - author of 'Dem Silber auf der Spur. Motor Buch Verlag.' - is quite sure this must be one of the Auto Union record cars that was taken by the Russans after WWII. See also Forix.com, Bernd Rosemayer.
