Scam warning !!! (UPDATE)

Warning by Pete Giles (Pete's Vintage Autos) and youngest PWC fan, his grand daughter:"I had an interesting proposal this week, a chap e-mailed me to say he was an international dealer and would like to buy some cars I had for sale. He said his mate owed him some money here in the UK and if he sent me a draft for 9000 pounds would I take my money out and send him the balance. Now I have had some funny people try to buy cars from me but this was a bit suspect but I followed it up any way ( you never know) all this chap wanted was my name and address so I sent him a box number for him to send the cheque and so far have had no reply. Did he want my name and address for a false identity? makes you wonder. " (Photo courtesy Pete Giles; the 1922 Talbot Darracq Special will hit the road this weekend for the first tiem in 50 years; legally.) More trick like these are aimed at internet advertisers. So please, be careful with what you write & send to whom. There is a CBS report on the issue right here (click - CBSnews.com ).

Peter McKercher of the Canadian Singer Registry: "... Exactly the same proposition was made to me last week by a scammer from Nigeria. It sounded like a fishy proposition so I dropped correspondence immediately. Seller beware. "
