Scrap Royale.

A superb photo came in from Evan Ide, curator of the Larz Anderson Auto Museum: "...the picture is obviously a Bugatti Royale but what is interesting is that it was taken on the streets of New York shortly after this car was purchased from a junk yard in the late 1930s. It was bought by Charlie Chayne (click) (BMW-CCA) for $350 and it is parked outside Stitch's garage. That place was located on the fifth floor and required an elevator ride to get vehicles in. One might wonder if it is outside because it was to long to fit on the elevator. The car now resides, fully restored at the Henry Ford Museum. Also note the little Topolino placed in the picture for size contrast. (editor: remember the little Bantam on the side of the Royale during last summer's Pebble Beach? ) The photo is from the Paul Ceresole Collection, Larz Anderson Auto Museum). Mr. Evan Ide also writes: "I visit your websites daily and find them very enjoyable. I have had excellent response to ads placed on prewarparts.com . These sites have become a valuable resource for the vintage car community."
