This image of two lovely ladies was taken in the 1930’s during a tour through County Galway. But we suspect the photographer was also quite smitten with the equally lovely Derby Bentley. Fitted with a four-door Sports Saloon coachwork by Park Ward it was supplied new to Belfast dealer Agnew & Graham Ltd on 29th April 1936. It won the Ulster Automobile Club's Coachwork Competition at Bangor (click), but then the 4.25 litre was put to work as a demonstrator. In 1937 it went back to England where after several owners it disappeared for several decades into a large Essex-based collection. Still sporting the same Marchal centre spotlight (click) that helped sway the Ulster Concours judges all those years ago, this Derby Bentley will be now auctioned coming March 1st by H&H ( >check ). The original coachwork has become quite scruffy. It also has the original engine and bonnet hinge plaque and it is said to be eminently usable the way it is now. Check lot 26 at H&H 's website !
