Or should the title be: too beautiful to be true. Because that’s what the automobiles from the Ralph Lauren Collection are. In fact the cars of Ralph Lauren (infomat.com), famous designer and car-enthusiast, are so much so works of art that the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts decided to exhibit sixteen of them. Apart from the Blower Bentley shown here (click photo for larger version), there is also the celebrated 'Count Trossi' Mercedes-Benz SSK, with its swept-back Art Nouveau style and a 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe, the Pebble Beach 1990 Best of Show (polo.com). Complementing these pre-war beauties are racers from the fifties and sixties, including the legendary Jaguar D-type; a Porsche 550 Spyder; and several Ferrari’s, such as the 250 Testa Rossa and the GTO. The exhibition takes place from March 6 till July 3. Not to be missed! (Photographs by Michael Furman, courtesy Museum of Fine Arts, Boston)
