Spyker Beijing preparations. (UPDATE: one other B-P)

Once more Dutchman Stijnus Schotte has sailed for Beijing to crank up his 1907 Spyker 40 HP. As you may know there are many organisers who choose this long known track and one can almost pave the full distance due to the sheer numbers of historic vehicles that travel this holy route. The motives are quite different. Modern sportscar producer Spyker asked Stijnus to make the trip once more to add some color and historical perspective to the new 12 cylinder AWD they introduce. For the occasion the 1907 40HP was stripped back to the bare chassis to check and make small repairs adjustments to the wood & steel chassis (the wood is wrapped in the pressed steel!). Meanwhile specialists of De Sutter Enginering did a major check up on the 100 year old T-head. They also re-babbited the big ends and made an extra 'plug & play' set, which can be mounted anywhere with simple tools. See PreWarCar.tv for the first smooth test revving hours...
. The Spyker will leave form Beijing next Sunday.
Quite a different plan is currently realised by two brave men who make the same trip in their well prepared Model T !!! They combine the fun of global travelling (Beijing-Paris) with raising funds for the charity Save the Children.
UPDATE by Paul Linster who send in the link to another group doing the same trip. See the entree list.
