Completely unknown makes to us don't come up very often any more, so we are quite happy with every new 'introduction'. Like the make TAU from Torino, Italy. It was started in the early twenties by a Mr. Rubino, but after a short while it came in the hands of financiers and became the 'Torino Automobili U(nita)'. We understand the car had specifications identical to a Fiat 509. Overall production did not exceed 100 and it is known that a few have been exported to Australia, according to a letter of librarian E.A. Bellamy of the Beaulieu Motor Museum, dated 4 August 1972. What's more, this could be one of the very few, if not the only, surviving specimen of the make. So after buying this car at the 10 March auction of Shannons, Australia don't go to Kwik Fitter and start complaining why there is no new TAU muffler in their Saturday bargain list. Better enjoy this wonderful photo in full. So far you didn't meet half of the family. Click the photo to see all of them and give attention to the fact how quiet they must have been posing for the photographer. The dog at the far RIGHT fell asleep... (photo from collection of the present TAU owner since more than 4 decades).
