UPDATE II by James Holland about the car on the left:"Definitely an Austro-Daimler and I think an ultra rare ADM/100 sports model - could it be one of the TT cars?"
The picture above is one of the very few in the 'Arthur Baron Bugatti Archive' not showing a Bugatti. The Baron family who ran their garage and small racing team during prewar years in Surrey (UK) were crazy with Bugatti and the hundreds of vintage racing photos are the silently roaring witnesses. Father and two sons were near, under or at the wheel of their Bugatti's.
UPDATE I by James Holland:" What a fascinating picture! It was taken at an early post war Prescott hillclimb and the car on the right is The Strang, one of the early 500s. Built by Colin Strang it featured a pre war H.R.D. motor and Fiat Topolino front end on a home built chassis. It was quite successfull in the early days before Charlie Cooper changed everything. And yes the huge megaphone is still with the car! It is now in the hands of Vincent specialist and 500 racer Bob Culver. The car on the left I believe is GN Martyr in its ealier incarnation before Rupert Instone modified it considerably, but I might be wrong on that one." Thank you James!
EARLIER:Click the photo to get a feel with prewar hillclimb atmosphere. The special showing its rear end on the near right looks familiar. Is that trumpet still around?
