The aqueduct. (UPDATE, no aqueduct.)

Two links one sent to us by Ted Curphey and Kit Foster. 1. Funnelfan.
2.: Train over Snake River. Ted Curphey added:"Now that bridge is in perhaps, one of the remotest parts of the Pacific Northwest. You really have to know your way around Washington State to get to Lyons Ferry. And it's Rattle Snake Heaven (hence, Snake River!)."
Kit added: "This is the Joso bridge over the Snake River, on the Union Pacific Railroad in Washington State. Completed in 1912, the bridge is 3,920 feet long and stands nearly 200 feet about river level. The first highway bridge at this location was not built until the mid-1960s, so all motor vehicles crossed at Lyon's Ferry. The cars in this photo may not be on a simple outing, but may be in line for the ferry." Thanks Kit.
EARLIER TEXT: We know them from Roman history or Latin classes. I didn't know them from automobile history. So this photo was waiting for soem time already. I didn't know what to think of this weekend outing and the little girl in het white Sunday dress. Then I tried to google myb question, typed 'aquaduct 1910' (because of the early Fords) and what did my monitor tell? Nov 05 1913: Opening of the Los Angeles aqueduct (Arts & Crafts Movement). And Antelope Valley. All very interesting & entertaining, but upon examining the photos I am afraid it's not this aquaduct. Not 'my' aquaduct. Please write to us in case you have recollections or matching photos. (photo collection editor)
